On our last day in Sacramento, we went to Leatherby’s Family Creamery for lunch.  It’s extremely similar to another local Ice Cream parlor we frequent quite often: Knudsen’s Ice Creamery.  Leatherby’s serves diner-style food and of course, ice cream.  It’s a franchise-owned restaurant, so if you Google it you’ll come across multiple Leatherby’s in different cities.  This review only applies to the one we visited in Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento.

We arrived around lunch time in our big 2011 Infiniti QX rental (as pictured above) and were one of the few guests there.  At the time, they were only limiting the seating to the front half of the restaurant which is split by the kitchen and ice cream/candy counters.  By the time we finished our meal, there were a lot more customers filling up the place.  One gripe about our visit was the there was only one waitress working multiple tables and flagging her down took a little bit of patience.  Another waitress came aboard after the place started filling up.

We started to order and my dad ordered the day’s special, which was a huge Fried Pork Tenderloin Sandwich with a side of Potato Salad.

My mom ordered the same thing Emily wanted: Deviled Egg Sandwich.  However, she ordered the side of Coleslaw while Emily ordered the side of French Fries.  Melody ordered a Hot Dog with a side of French Fries.  Of course, the girls had to ask for Ranch dip to go with their fries.

Joyce and I got a combo and split the Crab Sandwich (yummy buttered white toast with real shredded crab) with a side of French Fries.  The combo also came with a scrumptiously rich Strawberry Milkshake.  Each sandwich also came with a half-sliced pickle.  I also ordered Raspberry Iced Tea to drink.

For dessert, we ordered a small cup of ice cream for each of the girls.  Melody wanted Strawberry Ice Cream (as her favorite color is Pink) and Emily just wanted something yellow (her favorite color).  We ordered Lemon Ice Cream (something not usually on a regular ice cream menu) for her and it turned out to be pretty good.

Thank you Leatherby’s for a sweet end to our first annual family vacation.
