This film is inspired by the true story of Travis Freeman. Travis (played by Mark Hapka) plays high school football  in a small town in Kentucky. He is loved by his local community, not just for his skills on the field, but for being an all-around great guy. In 1997, Travis contracts an infection and overnight he becomes blind. He thought his dreams of playing the game was over, but he overcomes many challenges with the help of his parents, physical therapist, coach, and best friend. He was able to get back on the field and help his team get to the state finals.

You all know I love a feel-good movie, and this is definitely one of those. While the events in the film did not happen exactly the way they did in real life, Travis Freeman did in fact have an unshakeable faith after he became blind. Stories like this is always welcomed over what is typically shown on the big screen targeting young people today. You can read about where Travis is today, and his thoughts about the movie HERE. 1. The person who inspires me despite their challenges in life is a sweet 20 something young lady Alyssa. I had the blessing of teaching her in Sunday School. She has survived leukemia, a bone marrow transplant, 2 brain tumors and a heart transplant. She is always so sweet and loves the Lord. She even emailed me the day of my cancer surgery too and said she was praying for me. She is a true blessing and a miracle to answered prayer from God.

  2. As someone who works with disabled children, it never ceases to amaze me what they can do to overcome challenges they face. It inspires me everyday to never let an obstacle stop me from anything. This movie was beautiful and inspiring showing that although life isn’t always fair and brings challenges, that you can do anything if you want it bad enough. You will inspire others along the way!
