A mysterious hidden treasure. Sword fights. Romance. This book’s got it all. Okay, well, not all…it doesn’t have high tech gadgets like an iPad. The Forgiven Duke is the second book in The Forgotten Castle Series by Jamie Carie. It is set in the early 1800s in Dublin, no, not Dublin, the city, but Dublin, Ireland. The story also takes us to other interesting places, Iceland being one of them! The main character of the book, Alexandria Featherstone, is in search of her parents. Everyone is convinced that they have died/killed looking for a sought after treasure. On a whim she becomes engaged to Lord John Lemon thinking she was in love with him but also so that he could help her find her parents…but her heart belongs to another. Gabriel, Duke of St. Easton, who was entrusted with the responsibility of watching over Alex after her parents disappeared, is now searching for her after exchanges of letters. His loss of hearing is problematic and he struggled with his relationship with the Lord. “Alexandria Featherstone will be the life or the death of him. Only time and God’s plan will reveal just how much this man can endure for the prize of love.” Although I missed out some of the back story from the first book in the series, The Forgiven Duke does keep you at the edge of your seat.
