Update 9/28/2011 : I got myself a cool, new black T-shirt from Kung Fu Tacos at the Eat Real Festival this past Sunday =)
The taco food truck trend continues. Kung Fu Tacos is about three blocks from my work. The normal spot for the truck is on Sacramento (between Montgomery and Kearny) in the parking lot next to Jeanty at Jack’s. Kung Fu Tacos also partners with El Porteno Empanadas and Oui Oui Macaron for their dessert items.
In my opinion, the best tacos Kung Fu Tacos offers are the Roast Duck, Asian Asada, and Wu Shu Char Siu (in that order). I usually order 3 of them since they’re relatively small. It’s a little pricey for how much food you’re getting. The Roast Duck is pretty flavorful and is like eating a Chinese wedding roast duck in steamed bun dish replacing the steamed bun with a corn tortilla. The Asian Asada is Carne Asada Steak with a mild/spicy kick of orange salsa. The Char Siu is BBQ Pork kicked up with a bit of Sriracha sauce and mango.
On one of the days I went, Kung Fu Tacos had Oui Oui Macaron mini french creme-filled cookies for $1. I tried the honey and earl grey tea flavor. My mouth was pleasantly surprised as so much flavor was packed into such a tiny cookie. You can taste the plethora of rich creme and sweetness of honey in the cookie. What a treat!
