I came to this highly recommended restaurant with co-workers celebrating accomplishments of a project we’re working on. This is one of the restaurants that Alice Waters of Chez Panisse fame frequents.
I started off with a smoothie-like Mango Lassi drink (this would be mango and yogurt blended) and proceeded to look at the yummy offerings from the menu. The “special dinner” selections appealed to me because it was structured like a prix fixe menu with an appetizer, entree, and a dessert. For the appetizer, I chose the Khumb Alu Tikki (potato cake made with breadcrumbs and shitake mushrooms). It looked like a crab cake when it came out and was accompanied by some beans. Of course, I also ordered some Garlic Naan to share co-workers. For the entree, I chose the Lamb Korma (Boneless Colorado Cubed Lamb in a slightly spicy cream curry with nuts). On a spiciness note, you can order very mild, mild/medium, medium, medium/hot, and hot. I ordered the mild/medium. It also came with some biryani rice and spinach/potato sauce. Assorted chutneys were also available to share on the table. For dessert, I chose the Ras Malai (paneer cheese with thickened caramel milk sauce) and it was pretty sweet. I also partook in the sharing of Kulfi (also known as Indian Ice Cream with pistachios) with co-workers at the table.
All in all, this was a great restaurant with very flavorful food without every single dish being spicy. We started eating at almost 6:30pm and by 7 or 7:30pm, every table was taken. Come early….or with a reservation.
