This was an inexpensive buy at Scholastic’s big warehouse sale. Most people have read this classic story about a pig named Wilbur and his spider friend Charlotte. Wilbur’s life was spared after he was born a runt, smaller than all the other piglets. Fern pleaded with her father to let her care for him He got big and was sold to Fern’s uncle. Wilbur learned from the other animals on the farm that he was to be slaughtered for the holiday meal. His friend Charlotte could not let that happen, so she came up with a plan.
