This book was recommended to me by a fellow mommy blogger. It is a little more than a story of a teenage Chinese girl who becomes Jewish in the late 1960s. The story takes us from her middle school days and beyond. She starts out as “the favorite”, but events lead her to become something far from what her parents had expected…even from what she expected. We come to learn of Mona’s humorous replies to almost everything in any situation. Her encounters with people from various backgrounds and cultures help her to discover more of who she wants to be.
