For Joyce’s 29th birthday, Joyce decided to head back to Le Soleil Vietnamese Noodles & Grill.  We heard about this place from Joyce’s older sister and husband and went to eat there with them once.  This time around, my parents, my brother, Joyce, Melody, and myself went.  Parking is relatively easy due to the Pelton Center Plaza being right next door.  It’s also conveniently located in downtown San Leandro and practically right next to Baskin Robbins (which we frequented afterwards for Joyce’s free birthday ice cream scoop)!

Before going, we went on Yelp to check out reviews on the food and while ordering recommended these to my parents.  It turns out the Yelp folks were right.  All the dishes we ordered were quite scrumptious.  We started out with spring rolls.  My parents ordered the five-spice chicken and catfish clay pot.  My brother ordered crawfish fried rice.  Joyce ordered shrimp noodle soup.  I ordered lemongrass stir-fried chicken vermicelli and basil eggplant tofu.  Melody shared our food and had a bowl of tomato fried rice.

The layout of the restaurant is pretty spacious and modern-looking.  It is long and rectangular from the front entrance.  The cashier counter/bar is in the back along with the restrooms.  The kitchen is also back there.

We didn’t know it then, but after we got home and looked at the takeout menu, we found out that if we ordered some select desserts, you can keep the decorative glass cup it comes in.

Next time, if you’re in the downtown San Leandro area and have a hankering for some Pho or some delectable Vietnamese entrees, check out Le Soleil.
